Contract Free iPhone 3G In France

We reported on a recent ruling in France which allowed other carriers to offer the iPhone to their subscribers, and now French retailer FNAC is selling the iPhone 3G contract-free, though it won’t come cheap as the 8GB version is going for €799 ($1,123) and the 16GB version is €899 ($1,263). That’s quite a high price to pay for the phone, but if you don’t like being tied to a contract, at least you have the option to get these.
